Asbury Shorts International is New York City’s longest running non-competitive touring exhibition of globally honored short films. An Asbury Short Film Concert features a highly entertaining mix of comedy, drama, documentary and animated shorts — previously honored at the world’s top film festivals.

Asbury Shorts Concerts have been presented at Summer Stage in Central Park, The AERO Theatre in Santa Monica, Alamo Draft House in Dallas, Vero Beach Museum of Art in Florida, Charleston Music Hall in South Carolina, The Osprey Art Center in Nova Scotia, the DGA Theatre in Manhattan, Royal Festival Hall in London, the Leminske Theatre in Berlin and Guild Hall in East Hampton, Long Island to name just a few of the heralded venues where audiences have enjoyed these world-renowned films.
Past guest hosts have included actors: Edie Falco, Adrian Grenier, Steve Schirripa, Richard Belzer, Olympia Dukakis, Harvey Keitel as well as directors Frank Oz, Jason Reitman, Bob Giraldi, Melvyn Van Peebles, Joan Micklin Silver and Bob Balaban.

Doug LeClaire - Founder/DirectorDoug LeClaire is a former Line Producer and Production Supervisor of national broadcast television commercials and U.S. cable network promos in the New York metro area. He produced television advertising & web content campaigns for Lifetime TV; WE-TV; Comedy Central; MTV; Oxygen and the three TV networks. He won a “Clio” for an MTV promotional campaign directed by Barbara Kanowitz. He served as Unit Production Supervisor on television commercial projects directed by Michaell Bay, Martin Scorsese, Herb Ritts, Robert Small, Laura Murphy, David Fincher and Robert Altman. Doug was the Unit Production Supervisor on a series of national public service announcements created by the City of New York soon after September 11, 2001. Legendary TV commercial director Joe Pytka shot multiple location spots emphasizing how New York City was “back in business” post 9/11. The PSA’s featured Kevin Bacon, Ben Stiller, Derek Jeter, Susan Sarandon, Henry Kissinger, Al Roker, Harrison Ford, Vanessa Williams and Woody Allen. Doug was the Line Producer on a series of concert background videos for Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame through Breathe Productions in New York and the “Te A Me Tea” global promo sensation: “Drink the Tea Donald Trump” for the FishEye Creative ad agency from India. He was Joe Pyka’s NY Production Supervisor for 19 years working on national TV commercials for Nike, Pepsi, IBM, Budweiser to name just a few. He line produced the award winning “Wreckin’ Shop- live from Brooklyn” for PBS, directed by Diane Martel through Epoch Films. Doug was the line producer for two independent feature films: “Greetings from the Shore,” directed by Greg Chwerchak, starring Kim Shaw, David Fumero, Paul Sorvino and Jay O. Sanders. Also: “Broadway’s Finest,” winner of over 10 national film festival awards, directed by Stephen Marro. In 1981 Doug & partners founded Asbury Shorts USA, now New York City’s longest running short film exhibition and touring show. Asbury Shorts has presented their short film “concerts” in historic venues from Los Angeles to Berlin. Guest Hosts have included: Edie Falco, Adrian Grenier, Bob Giraldi, Melvin Van Peebles, Richard Belzer, Harvey Keitel, Olympia Dukakis, Dylan McDermott and Jason Reitman. Doug directed two award-winning shorts in the 1980’s: “The Problem,” and “Surprise.” Both played on HBO. |

Founded on Asbury Avenue in Westbury, Long Island, N.Y. Asbury Shorts International was first presented in 1981 at the Westbridge Playhouse, screening local area student films. In 1988, the show relocated to Manhattan and the producers have featured globally honored short films there ever since, often introduced by various celebrity Guest Hosts. Beginning in 1998, The Asbury Short Film Concert has ‘reeled’ into cinemas, performing arts centers, art museums & outdoor venues everywhere from Berlin to Los Angeles...with many stops in-between including:
